Here are some basic tips that should let anyone download, add, and alter their Wordpress sites into unique looking designs. Only a stub - this page will be rockin’!

Known as the favicon, this is the first thing I do after setting up a new site. Having a favicon - anything than the default browser one - instantly brands your site as a “real” one. Add this code (remove the spaces first so it’s one unbroken line) between the <head> and </head> part of my header.php file in your Theme Editor (the whole image is encoded there so there are no other files to upload).

It’s a really subtle white double arrow that hardly shows up even, but works well for any design or subject and gets you out of trouble quickly. After that, go to a free favicon generation site and upload a screenshot section of one of your site letters, or design your own from scratch.
3. What Should I Modify Next?
Always change the colors, fonts, and other easy things. After all, you don’t want your site to look like a cookie cutter job, do you? More tips about personalizing your theme coming soon.
4. What Colors Should I Choose for My Theme?
The choice is up to you, but I recommend simple and subtler color themes. Everyone can go for bright or primary colors - using subtler ones will mark your site out as ’serious’ or ‘real’.
If you still can’t chose, pick a site you like the design of. Now go to I Like Your Colors and type in the address. It will give you a readout of the HTML codes used. Paste them over the ones that come with your theme. Or, if you want to chose yourself, here’s a handy HTML color chart (zoom in to see the numbers).
